This month I will be participating in #NoBuyJanuary, a little idea that came up from fellow green beauty bloggers Paula and Ria. The premise is pretty simple: don't buy any beauty products for the month of January. It's funny, because this would be a very easy, if not mindless task for most people. But for beauty bloggers, it requires some will power — and its own hashtag.
I am going to personally expand this no-buy to all non-essential purchases, so it will be pretty much just groceries for me this month. I was pretty good at self-control for most of 2013, but towards the end of the year I did buy a little more than I would have liked to. Anyways, #NoBuyJanuary will be a chance for me to slow my spending, and get my blog caught up on all of the exciting items I already have to write about. Part of this initiative is writing a couple themed posts, so today I will be including my current wishlist. This is open to anyone, so if you would like to join in, leave a comment on this blog post.
MVO Face Oil: I received a sample of this a couple months ago, and it is amazing stuff. It really helped heal some of the breakouts I had going on, and is easily one of the best face oils I've ever used. Lily and Ria have mentioned extremely positive things as well, so it's not a fluke. The price of this is undoubtably luxury, but if you're going to invest anywhere, I say it should be in a serum. Not to mention, this one has the results to back it up!
Honeybee Gardens Pressed Eyeshadows in Canterbury, Mojave and Cairo: I have tried couple of these eyeshadows (review coming very soon), and they are fantastic. I am more into pressed eyeshadows than ever before, and I want to build a palette full of neutral shades like these. The $8.99 price point is incredibly reasonable, and these three neutral shades are calling my name.
Organic Wear CC Cream: The ingredients in this CC Cream are surprisingly clean, and it's had some pretty decent reviews on other blogs. Of course I don't need any new face products at the moment, but I would love to see if the product is any good, because it is so readily available.
Real Techniques Expert Face Brush: I am going to whittle down my brush collection this month to mostly Real Techniques, EcoTools and a couple Bdellium brushes, but I also reeealllly want to try out this one. Along with the Buffing Brush, this is one of the most loved items from Real Techniques, and since I love almost everything else from them, I gotta have it.
Osmia Organics Body Oils (Flower + Water Lily) and Soap: I had the opportunity to try a couple samples Osmia a few months back, and they have lingered in my mind. This is a truly natural company, and the textures of their products were so spot on. However, I absolutely will not buy any more body oils or soaps until I use what I have!
A new makeup bag: I don't have a real makeup bag, and I would love to get one. I would really like something eco-friendly, like the XO(eco) line (which is made from recycled bottles), but I'm not a fan of their prints, or of Lauren Conrad for that matter. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
A new cleanser: I'm running out of the ones I have, so it will be time to buy something new soon. I am not exactly sure what I want though, so would love some suggestions for that as well! I go for cream-based, pH balanced cleansers most of the time.
What's on your wishlist this month? I would also love to hear your recs for eco-friendly makeup bags and cleansers!
