A natural MAC dupe

The green beauty world has seen tons of hyped up new releases this season, but one of the products I am most excited about is an under-the-radar release from Honeybee Gardens: Pressed Eye Shadow Singles* ($8.99 each). These shadows are sold in the pan form, a la MAC, and come in a great mix of matte and shimmer shades. I love this format because the lack of packaging is more environmentally friendly, and it means I can use them to build the neutral palette of my dreams.

The two I've tested out are Cameo, described as matte warm pale rose, and Tippy Taupe, which is listed as plum with hints of brown and silver. The Cameo color leans much more rose than it's showing in these pictures, and would fit right in with the tones of the Naked 3 palette. It is a perfect transition color for to making shadows look seamlessly blended. I really like to use this color to blend out cooler shades to balance the undertone. Lately I've also been a huge fan of just using a single matte shadow all over the lid, and this is a great shade for that as well. This look is defined and polished, but more subtle than all the shimmery smokey stuff. Tippy Taupe is an extremely versatile midtone shade that can be applied all over the lid, in the crease, or smudged under the lashline. I love plumy brown taupe colors like this that seem to have a bit of warm and cool tones at the same time. It is a great natural dupe for MAC's Satin Taupe.

Both have an excellent formula that is smooth, pigmented and very blendable. They also have much less fallout than any other natural pressed shadows that I've tried. The ingredients aren't the most purely natural, but there's nothing I find concerning here. They don't contain two major things I avoid in pressed products — talc and silicones — but you wouldn't know it from the smooth formulas. I think the value is really great too; $8.99 is about as low of a price as I've seen for a natural pressed product. I am super pleased with these shadows, and I have a feeling other shades like Canterbury, Mojave and Cairo will be making it to my palette soon!

The Compact Review: Honeybee Gardens Pressed Eyeshadow Singles are smooth and pigmented, and come in a great mix of textures and undertones to satisfy any neutral shadow lover. Three purples and two jewel tones are also available. The $8.99 price point is super reasonable, and the ingredients contain no talc, silicones or preservatives. There is also surprisingly little fallout for a natural formula. Love 'em!

  3. Thank you for this! can't wait to try it. I've been mostly clean on the skincare front but still pretty dirty when it comes to make up. Hard to find clean replacements for my MAC, Lancome, etc. This will help!

  4. Hi,

Love those natural colours they are just right for an everyday makeup look. And I don't know about you but I don't have much time to fix my makeup in the morning anyway so natural is best!

    1. I agree, I almost always wear neutral shades. As much fun as colors are, they just aren't that flattering on me. These are both great one color shadows as well!

    1. The best part about them being a "dupe" is that they have better ingredients AND are cheaper! The price is totally reasonable.
